I wrote Red, White & Brew as a toast to our nation's 250th birthday, which makes this song even more meaningful. It’s my salute to the boaters, beach lovers, military families, first responders, and hardworking Americans who know that freedom is worth celebrating—not just on Independence Day, but every chance we get. So raise a cup, fly Old Glory high, and remember that some of the very best seats in America aren’t in a stadium… they're on a boat, at the beach with toes in the sand, your favorite beach chair, or wading in water at the sandbar.
Every summer, there’s a weekend that feels different from all the rest. American flags begin flying from boat towers, coolers are packed before sunrise, and thousands of boats make their way toward their favorite sandbars to celebrate the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Red, White & Brew was written for those weekends—for the people who believe that some of life’s greatest moments happen with sunshine overhead, friends tied up alongside your boat, country music filling the air, and the Stars and Stripes waving proudly in the breeze.
This song celebrates one of America’s greatest traditions: gathering on the water with the people who matter most. It isn’t about fancy plans or expensive vacations. It’s about simple moments—cold drinks, laughter that carries across the bay, kids splashing in the shallows, boats gently rocking side by side, and strangers becoming friends before the day is over. It’s a reminder that freedom isn’t just something we celebrate with fireworks after dark. It’s something we live every time we have the opportunity to spend a summer day making memories with the people we love.
“Freedom sounds a little like country music, looks a lot like Old Glory flying from the back of a boat, and somehow always tastes better with good friends at the sandbar. Happy 250th, America.” — Bo 🇺🇸🍻
